FAQ's

Where are you located?
Epley's Whitewater Adventures is located in Riggins, Idaho on scenic route 95. Our office is located in Northeast Riggins on the river side of the highway.

What equipment do you provide?
We provide you with all of your rafting equipment. This includes life jackets, rafts and paddles. In addition, we provide transportation to and from the river for one day and multi-day trips. Camping gear for multi-day trips is also provided.

What should I bring?
All you need to bring is a swimsuit, old tennis shoes or sport sandals and a fleece sweater.

What's for lunch?
We provide a delicious deli-style buffet lunch with a variety of meats and cheeses, chips, fresh fruit, homemade desserts, and a beverage. Upon request, cooler space will be available if you would like to bring your own beverage(s).

What if it rains?
We run rain or shine. Rafting is the best thing to do on a rainy day- you are going to get wet anyway!

Do I need to know how to swim?
You don't need to be a confident swimmer, but should be comfortable around water.

How are rapids rated?
Rapids are rated on a scale of 1–6.
Class 1: fast moving water
Class 2: Splashy waves
Class 3: waves or holes which can swamp an open canoe
Class 4: numerous big waves or holes with obstacles to avoid
Class 5: Extremely long, obstructed, or very violent rapids which expose paddlers to above average endangerment
Class 6: un-navigable in any raft ( Niagara Falls )!

Is someone going to take my photograph?
Salmon River Photos takes digital pictures of you at some of the best whitewater sections on the river. You can view and purchase your photos back at their store at the end of the day, or online at http://www.salmonriverphotos.com

Do I need experience to come rafting?
Many of our rafters are first timers. We provide the expertise necessary for an enjoyable trip on the river. If you would like to just sit back and enjoy the ride, we suggest an oar boat with an experienced guide navigating the river for you. For our more adventurous guests, we suggest paddle rafts where each guest has an active role paddling the boat while the guide assists from the back of the boat (minimum of 4 guests needed per raft) Inflatable kayaks are also available upon request.

Do you ever see wildlife while you're on the river?
Yes – Golden eagles, chukars, ducks, geese, wild turkeys, otters, deer, elk, bears, and wild sheep are among many of the species often spotted along the banks.
